Bananas are incredibly delicious and healthy. They contain many essential nutrients, including potassium, vitamin B6, vitamin C, magnesium, fiber, and copper. In addition, bananas are perfect for snacks and breakfasts on the go. But can you juice a banana?

Unlike most juicy fruits, you cannot juice bananas because they don’t contain enough liquid content to press into juice. Even though bananas are high in potassium, they do not have enough water, making it impossible to juice, particularly alone. Alternatively, you can juice bananas by adding them to healthy smoothies

But the good news is that bananas are unique in mixed drinks, smoothies, or even juice. Because bananas are naturally sweet, you can mix them with almost all drinks to make them delicious and tasty and give them a creamy and smooth texture.

How Do You Get The Juice Out Of A Banana?

The juice in bananas is chemically bound to the starch in bananas. And you get the juice out of a banana by breaking down the starch using an enzyme called amylase, which is present in banana fruits. However, putting a whole banana will not give you a single drop of juice. Instead, you will get a weird creamy substance shot into the pulp catch.

Here is how to get the juice out of a banana:

  • Take a few bananas, peel them, and puree them.
  • Put the puree into a vacuum bag and seal. You can also put the puree in a highly securely tied plastic bag with the air pressed out or place the puree into a canning jar.
  • Then, put the container in a pot of water at a temperature of around (35–95 °C) and let it sit for about 30 to 120 min, allowing the naturally occurring amylase to fully break down the banana’s starch and release the liquid.
  • Strain the liquid into a nut milk bag, or use various cheesecloth layers. However, a nice nut milk bag will make it easier for you.
  • Finally, squeeze and massage to get the highest yield of the fresh, delicious banana juice in the bag.
